Mainferret is operated by STEPS Ventures. This policy explains what we collect and how we use it.
Information we collect
- Account info you provide — name, email, billing details.
- Usage data — pages viewed, searches run, features used, via cookies and analytics.
- Public-record & third-party data — the business and public records that power the Service (e.g., SBA FOIA data, business listings). This is information about businesses, drawn from already-public sources.
How we use it
- To provide, maintain, and improve the Service.
- To personalize recommendations and tune our models on aggregate, de-identified outcomes.
- To communicate with you about your account and (with your consent) product updates.
- To bill you and prevent fraud and abuse.
Diligence & uploaded files
Where you upload private documents (e.g., a diligence data room), those files are encrypted, isolated per deal, and never shared. Any signals we derive for benchmarking are aggregated and de-identified — we do not expose any individual seller's raw files or identifiable financials.
Sharing
We don't sell your personal information. We share data only with service providers who help us operate (e.g., hosting, payments, analytics) under appropriate safeguards, or where required by law.

We use cookies for authentication, preferences, and analytics. You can control cookies through your browser.
Your choices

Data retention & security
We retain data as long as needed to provide the Service and meet legal obligations, and we use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect it. No system is perfectly secure.
